Statewide Star Party: Crowders Mountain

Friday, April 4 at 2:00 pmKings Mountain
Crowders Mountain

We are hosting a star party during the day! Come enjoy the Sun – our largest star in the sky. The Sun in a telescope is an awesome sight, a dynamic, living body, changing unpredictably from day to day. The Sun is also the only celestial object hazardous to the observer. Without proper protection, even a glimpse of it through a telescope or binoculars can burn the eye’s retina and leave a permanent blind spot. Come discover the ways you can observe the Sun safely and take a view from the park telescope. If it is raining, please call the visitor center – the program may be cancelled: 704-853-5375

The NC Science Festival’s annual Statewide Star Party is made possible through the generous support of the NC Space Grant.
