The Beauty of Pollination

1 pm Thursday, April 19 Harkers Island

Celebrate spring by learning about the beauty of pollination! Explore our “Butterfly Pathway”, a flowering garden of highly adapted shrubs and perennials that attract bees and butterflies with Carteret County Master Gardeners. Develop an understanding of the importance of bees in the pollination process with a presentation by NC Cooperative Extension, and learn about beekeeping with the Crystal Coast Beekeepers Association.

There will also be a separate youth program from 3:30-5pm.  4th-8th graders will learn about local pollinators and which plants can be grown to attract honey bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies through hands-on activities, games, and take-home craft projects.  Dissect a flower, plant seeds in a balloon, build a hummingbird feeder out of recycled materials, and so much more!

There is no cost to attend this program, but registration is required.
