The NC Gravity Games in downtown Lenoir is a STEM-education racing extravaganza sponsored by Google and Appalachian State University. The 2017 race and festivities are scheduled for Saturday, April 29th.
Teams ranging from middle and high school groups to Cub Scout Packs to Y Guide tribes are already using their engineering minds to develop the fastest and the coolest car. Last year, the Games attracted STEM-loving squads from Mount Airy and Murphy to Durham and Fayetteville to Goldsboro and Rockingham.
The Games will also feature a Science Street festival with hands-on exhibits, music, a jumbotron, on-site newsdesk and other activities.
A signature event of the NC Science Festival, the Games are a real-world experience in which students from across the state use STEM lessons (science, technology, engineering and math) to build and race their own gravity-powered cars in downtown Lenoir, NC, home to Google’s data center.
