Science Spotlight was designed to expose your students to current science and civic issues through research and deliberation. The program helps teachers integrate these current topics into their classes while engaging their students in lively, thoughtful discussion that promotes critical thinking, communication, and citizenship skills – all important no matter the student’s future career path. The Science Spotlight program consists of teacher professional development, student preparation, a Socratic seminar style classroom discussion, an optional hands-on activity with reusable lab supplies, an expert visit (in person or virtual), and reflection activities. If you have questions, please contact the Festival team at 919-962-3274 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
