Solar System Walk

Take a whirlwind vacation through the solar system! Go on a 3.6-billion-mile walk (scaled down to roughly 1/2 mile one-way), stopping off at planets and dwarf planets to discuss what you might see and experience there.

Use a ball with a diameter of about 8.5 inches to represent the Sun, and find small objects around your home to represent the planets.

This activity helps convey the relative sizes and distances of objects in our solar system. You'll discover why it's called "space."
